Talking About Drupal

The emerging technology that i choose is Drupal. Drupal is a content management program that contains a set of tools for building a web-based community sites, which can include

1) a public-facing web presence,

2) the functionalities of the read/write web into a controlled school environment, or

3) Intrenet/Personal Workspaces for techs and administrators."

It can make learning better teachers and student can communicate better. It has more options that blogger and wiki. You can exceed more in your work you can design your own page with different  bag rounds  and animation which drual will give you.  They can always be intouch with their students. They can do any project they want on the suver and it willalways be safe because even if the internet stops working it will already have saved a backup on your computer desktop.It can be used for learning at school becasue Drupal is a great tool for setting up a dynamic web site that can be maintained by all members of the school community. It has many features that lend itself to enhancing communication and community within a school.

Evaluation

After my presentation my peers commented about my presentation and some things that they said were:

* I need to improve by saying it again becasue it was too low and they couldnt hear it.
*They said that i need more variety of pictures because i used all the same pictures but they were different colors.

That is all they said, But if i was to evaluate my self i would say:

*That i needed to improve by adding more variety of pictures

In conclusion i think that Drupal would be a great source to be used at school and i think that i school should consider using it.

Plan

To complete my task i am going to use voice thread to introduce my emerging technology.

Between now and the end of this project to complete my project successfully  i will:

1) Look for different Images to "Advertise" My emerging technology.

2)I will create my voice thread.

3)I will extend my search by looking at drupal toturials on youtube ad toher sites.

4)I will create a lesson plan for peopleto use and look at and learn from.

5)And last i will write my evaluation.

  Would all students need one?
  In order for student to be in touch with their teacher and to do good on their project they will need a drupal. You can download it at home if you want it to be an icon or you can use it online.
  • How could the use of the technology add value or improve the lesson?
  This can improve lessons because instead of having the teacher explain a lesson for a long time . The teacher can just have put it on the drupal. The student can then go on drupal read the lesson for the day. If they have any question they can type it in the question box and you will receive an answer to it. This happened because the question gets typed in google and will give you a link to your answer. This can also help becuase you can put all your essays and your work on the drupal so you dont need to hand in any work on paper it will all be on the site. Your work will e safe because you can control which users can see it and which cant.

The new technology is drupal.

Drupal is a content management system that makes use of modules to allow site administrators to organize and display content, customize appearance and manage routine tasks, such as registration for websites requiring user names and passwords.

3)Where do you get it?  

Drupal is web based you can created your own account and be an administrator. you can let your students or colleges apply to join your page and then they can be allowed to look at your project or design. Drupal is open source which means the code is freely available to anyone to use and modify. This means no license fees and no vendor lock in.

4)What are the brands and models available that drupal can work on?

Drupal works with Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and many other operating systems

4th Of June Evaluation

1) Discuss strengths and weaknesses of your product based on the peer review: what improvements were suggested, what did you modify and change?
My final product I think was a great success because i worked hard on it. One of my strenghts that my project had was the it amused people and that was one thing that i hopped will happen, whiledoing perr rewiew all of the people that riewed it said that it was amusing and the they enjoyed it. Some weeknesses that i had that my peers said that was it was not that interesting and that i could have added alittle more strips to make it more interesting. Another commenet was that some of my speeches did not make sense so if i had to go back and change it, i would make it make sense and add more strips to make it more interesting to read.

2) Discuss the strength and weaknesses of your performance during this unit: what did you do well in? what could you have done better?
During the course of this unit i think i did well because i followed all the instructions and i always listened to what the teacher said i never disobeyed the rules that were given. Another strength was that I depened on my self i did not go and ask the teacher every to seconds how i do this or where is that like other people did. Some weaknesses are that somthimes i was not focuased at all i did not work i kept talking and when there was a substitute i somthimes did not do much work, i went off task. I think ifi did notdo that i could have made more strips andmade it more interesting for my peers to see.

3) Discuss the impact this product may/will have on your friends and family.
When i showed my comic strip to my framily and friends and it made them relises that there are many good things youvcan do on the web and that it is easy to make a comic strip if you try. When i showed it to my sibbling he decided to go on the web and try it out and he was interested. Spme comments that my family adn friends said were: that i did a good job ,it is very colourful which is what it would make it eye catching,i really like i enjoyed reading it,I really liked her comic strip. It was very intresting and creative. It amuses me. It has clear big reading and it is very colorful and attractive..
I think i have done a great job on thei project and i am proud of it! =) =)
