Talking About Drupal

The emerging technology that i choose is Drupal. Drupal is a content management program that contains a set of tools for building a web-based community sites, which can include

1) a public-facing web presence,

2) the functionalities of the read/write web into a controlled school environment, or

3) Intrenet/Personal Workspaces for techs and administrators."

It can make learning better teachers and student can communicate better. It has more options that blogger and wiki. You can exceed more in your work you can design your own page with different bag rounds and animation which drual will give you. They can always be intouch with their students. They can do any project they want on the suver and it willalways be safe because even if the internet stops working it will already have saved a backup on your computer desktop.It can be used for learning at school becasue Drupal is a great tool for setting up a dynamic web site that can be maintained by all members of the school community. It has many features that lend itself to enhancing communication and community within a school.

After my presentation my peers commented about my presentation and some things that they said were:

* I need to improve by saying it again becasue it was too low and they couldnt hear it.
*They said that i need more variety of pictures because i used all the same pictures but they were different colors.

That is all they said, But if i was to evaluate my self i would say:

*That i needed to improve by adding more variety of pictures

In conclusion i think that Drupal would be a great source to be used at school and i think that i school should consider using it.

Would all students need one?
In order for student to be in touch with their teacher and to do good on their project they will need a drupal. You can download it at home if you want it to be an icon or you can use it online.
How could the use of the technology add value or improve the lesson?
This can improve lessons because instead of having the teacher explain a lesson for a long time . The teacher can just have put it on the drupal. The student can then go on drupal read the lesson for the day. If they have any question they can type it in the question box and you will receive an answer to it. This happened because the question gets typed in google and will give you a link to your answer. This can also help becuase you can put all your essays and your work on the drupal so you dont need to hand in any work on paper it will all be on the site. Your work will e safe because you can control which users can see it and which cant.

Drupal is a content management system that makes use of modules to allow site administrators to organize and display content, customize appearance and manage routine tasks, such as registration for websites requiring user names and passwords.

Drupal is web based you can created your own account and be an administrator. you can let your students or colleges apply to join your page and then they can be allowed to look at your project or design. Drupal is open source which means the code is freely available to anyone to use and modify. This means no license fees and no vendor lock in.

4th Of June Evaluation

1) Discuss strengths and weaknesses of your product based on the peer review: what improvements were suggested, what did you modify and change?
My final product I think was a great success because i worked hard on it. One of my strenghts that my project had was the it amused people and that was one thing that i hopped will happen, whiledoing perr rewiew all of the people that riewed it said that it was amusing and the they enjoyed it. Some weeknesses that i had that my peers said that was it was not that interesting and that i could have added alittle more strips to make it more interesting. Another commenet was that some of my speeches did not make sense so if i had to go back and change it, i would make it make sense and add more strips to make it more interesting to read.

2) Discuss the strength and weaknesses of your performance during this unit: what did you do well in? what could you have done better?
During the course of this unit i think i did well because i followed all the instructions and i always listened to what the teacher said i never disobeyed the rules that were given. Another strength was that I depened on my self i did not go and ask the teacher every to seconds how i do this or where is that like other people did. Some weaknesses are that somthimes i was not focuased at all i did not work i kept talking and when there was a substitute i somthimes did not do much work, i went off task. I think ifi did notdo that i could have made more strips andmade it more interesting for my peers to see.

3) Discuss the impact this product may/will have on your friends and family.
When i showed my comic strip to my framily and friends and it made them relises that there are many good things youvcan do on the web and that it is easy to make a comic strip if you try. When i showed it to my sibbling he decided to go on the web and try it out and he was interested. Spme comments that my family adn friends said were: that i did a good job ,it is very colourful which is what it would make it eye catching,i really like i enjoyed reading it,I really liked her comic strip. It was very intresting and creative. It amuses me. It has clear big reading and it is very colorful and attractive..
I think i have done a great job on thei project and i am proud of it! =) =)

Today in class we started by opening our final projects and then we went around the class doing peer review, I did 2 rewiwes and one was a comic strip and the other was a game. I think both og them were wonderful espeically the game because it was fun to play!

My finish product is about 1o strips and each one has 3 small ones inside them. It is about the christmas holiday and everyting that happenes in a tipical christams day! It is very colorful and fuuny. It entertaines you. It is not too complecated or simple i think it is perfect. I worked hard on this and hope to do well. It is like aq normal story.

Today in i.t. most of the class did nowork at all because toondoo was underconstruction so there was no way we could continue with out projects. For the whole lesson i read and checked my plan other blog posts. I also started writting my evaluation. I learnt that you cant rely on the internet. I hope to go home and do the work that i hioped to de done in class!

Today I had the same problem as last Wednesday but this time i had tought about it and before i tried to save i took a screen shot and pasted it in to microsoft word so i dont have to kepp repeating it over and over. I was successful today because i mangged to finish another 3 comic strips. Ittook time for me to think. I pasted it into microsoft word but the writting was so small so i had to go back to it and make the writting bigger and did it again. Today i think was a very successful day for me and i hope next time it is going to be a successful as it was today!

During this lesson i had trouble at the beging because i had already started my comic strip but then when i went to open it it was not their i looked for it everywhere but still no use i could not find it. I opened the folder where it was ment to be saved but all i found was everybody elses comic strip ecxept mine. So i spent the whole lesson doing it all over again and i endded up with my first 3 comic strips.

The first thing i will do is find out what program i am going to use, and it will be toondoo and aniboom together. I will plan my project draw and say how it will look like in everyway then i will get started with it.

To complete this project i will need the software aniboom and toondoo, i will need my design of how it is going to be and look like. Also to complete this project i will need focus and concentration because if i talk tomy firends my project will be very bad but i want it to be a success.

How will the product i created be evaluated?

We can decide if it is a good product or not by looking at the survay that i will give out. If most of it says that it is good nothing can be improved and it isredable and other good things that means that my product is good but if they say the opposite that means that it is a bad product and that i need to improve it to do better next time!

What Am i going to produce?
I am going to produce a comic strip in ToonDoo and then i am going to creat alittle animation in aniboom and then i am going to put it together.

What Will it look like?
It will look very bright and eye catching, i am going to put alot of characters and diffrent types of pictures and props so i can make it eye catching and joyful to read. I will also do the best i cna to make it funny so people can enjoy reading it and also think it is funny.

What will the function be?
The function will be christmas it is ment to communicate and also to make you laugh because it is also a comic strip.

How will it be evaluated?
I am going to get sevral people to look at my comic strip and animation and then answer a survay which will ask them questions like: What did u like about it?, What can i improve?, What didn't you like?.

What will you need to create it?
The successfully create my product i will need 2 main programs and they are: aniboom and toondoo. I will concentration and focus so i can finish it and make it a good comic stripand animation.

Investigate(The Three tools and what hey can do)

First Softwear/Tool:
The tool that i used was Aniboom.com, Aniboom has speical features. It lets you creat you own person or thing using diffrent kinds of shapes and colors. It also lets you move you character once you have made it. So when you have created your character with all the diffrent shapes and colors you can click each shape that you made and click the move button and it will let you move it. If you want to make another character and make it walk in you can do that on this wwebsite. That is typically what aniboom does, it is kind of a hard to use because it is compelcated. Also when you save it does not tell you where it is saved or anything! The advantage of using this website is that you can make you character how you want it to look like and you can make you character move. The disadvatages is that you can only use 5 diffrentshapes and it is hard to make a human for exaple because we cant do the hair or anything.

Second Software/Tool:
The second tool that i used is called Toondoo.com,toondo has diffrent special fetures. Tondoo it s much eaisers software to use, it already has everything you need there but you just need to put in into a slide. It gives you firrent types of backgrounds like: indoor, outdoor,Lnadmarks, Sports, Fantacy, Abstract and space. It also give you diffrent character children men woman animals.. and more. It also give you propes, Text, speacial and speical fetures. so all you have to do is dray what ever you want into the screen and places it where ever you want to dont have to make your own characters it is all there for you. The disadvatages of toondo is that mabye you want a character and it is not there so you cant do what your idea was you are going have to change it, The advantage is you have everything you want there so you dont have to creat anything and it is easier because all you have to do is drag.

Third software/Tool:
The thirdtool i used is flash, flash is a good program because it lets you draw anything you want and type anything you want, it has all the same fetures as paint, you can flip rotate delet fill in with a color. You can draw lines and shapes, it is like aniboom but except the only ting diffrent is that you cant make your character move!
The adavantages of flash is that you can control it in anyway you can do anything with it.
The disadvantages is that it is not on the internet and you cant accese it unless it is a program on yor computer so you have to buy it.

Question:Colour and design of website (headings and colour combinations)?
Answer: I think my website has very vivd colors, in my home page i used a table so it would be eaiser to understand. All my heading go well with my baground because some of my backgrounds are white so i can put any title color and it will show perfectly. I think i did a great job on my bagrounds and all ym color so the reader can understand and not have to struggfle to understand what is written on the website.
Question:Images - size, placement, quality, use of background image?
Answer:On my homepage i used a table and in the table i had 3 coloms, 1) contents 2) pictures 3)Information abouit tsunamis. I had 3 pictures they were small but no to samll they were clear so the reader can accually see the pictures. They were places in the middle and the so the pictures stand out and as soon as you open the website that is first thing your eyes will catch. The pictures on the homepage and other pages are not blured you can see if perfectly. I choose the backgrounds carfully because of the text color. The backgrounds are perfect on each page because it goes perfectly with all the text exept on pagetwo i had a hard time finding a good background with a good text color but in the end i found the perfect match.
Question:Navigation and organisation - links and logical pages/content (check all hyperlinks) ?
Answer: On my website there are links to go from a page to another and they all work perfectly therre is nothing wrong with them and all the hyperlink to the pages are in bog at the top so they can see it. Also all the hyperlink on the homepage in the contents page work perfectly.
Question:Information pages - 3 x pages, relevance and use of appropriate information?
Answer: All of my 3 pages have to do with tsunamis and they informatiion is relevent to all the page titles and it is not too much and not too little so the reader will enjoy reading my information.
Question:Text - size, colour, placement, readability?
Answer: All my text is readabile and it is corresponding my the baground color all my headings are big and centered it is a diffrent font and text size than the normal text it is very eye catching so the reader would be intrested. But all the normal text is also centered but smaller and no in the middle but not too small either.
Question: How has been your progress in class?
I think my progress in class has been very succsesful because i did not talk at all i focused on my work i listened to instrustions the first time so i did not have to ask i always did what i had to do and when ever the teacher explained to use how to do somthing for example : how to put a background color or picture i made sure i understood so i can go striaght away and starty working again!
This has been a very wonderful and creative projct for me i liked it alot and i learnt alot and i hot the next project will be as exciting!!

The website is very colorful, there are many different colors, the color of the font is very clear.The heading is big and clear.The color combinations are very interesting. It consists of many different happy colors.The background explains the heading and it is very suitable for this matter of subject.The website design in general is very fantastic, i think she's done a great job in designing the website and i would give her a 10/10 in this criteria.-The images very much relate to the topic, they are good clear pictures.But, they are a little bit small, she should of just made them a big bigger.In terms of quality, they are very high quality pictures.She has placed the pictures in a wonderful , organized way which makes the whole home page better organized.-She has very good navigation and organisation.All the links and hyperlinks works and all of them have a meaning to the topic, they all link to one another.The content is very related to the topic and it makes sense.-There are 3 pages which are all appropriate to the subject.The first page which is the home page gives you an introduction and a brief meaning of a tsunami disaster. The second page tells you more detailed information about tsunami. Last but not least the last page tells you how to survive a tsunami. I think that all the pages are appropriate and that they will help any person interested in finding out about tsunami.-The text is nottoo big nor too small.The colors are very nice and clear.I can also clearly read the text.

In naylas website she has only 2 colors for the whole website althought it is really nice,because you can read it really well.
In nayals website her pictures show really well and they have perfect position and they also go well with the baground.
It also is part of her disaster which is good. In nayals website all her hyperlinks work and they are very informative and they talk about her disaster which is Earthquakes.
Nayals text size is very good because her title is big at the top and all the writting is smaller but not that small so you can still be able to read it.
Nayla has done a good job in making her 3 pages and all the information has to do with Earthquakes which is good the information is apropriate and is good information to help learn more.

I went to Jana's computer and I look at her website,Her website is really nice the headings are good expept the one on the homepage it does not really match with the background but it is okay, The writting is readable .

For my website i am going to make it eye catching with different color and colorful pictures.
I am will not have too much information about disasters because it will get to boring for people and they wont be bothered to read, I will put the important information and make it short but very informative.
I will have different designs on each page but all colorful, I have have pictures of disasters but pictures that will touch you, so people fell bad and read on.
Each page will not have too much information but the homepage will be like a start for people to read so they go on to the next page and the next.
Each piece of information will be in a box with nice borders.
My website will be very informative but in a fun and good way, people will be eager to carry on reading

This website is a good site because they put the writting on a clear white background and they font was clear and the writing was black. And on the sides they put a very nice and colorful design of rainbows and other colorful objects. Which is eye chatching and the desing of how the website is made is very good. It also has good information,so with a good desing and good information it is a very good website.
This website is a bad website because it is too long and it has too much text, it s very confusingto read.It has a bad background (yellow) and it would take you more than 1 hour the finish reading it all. To improve this you can make it shorter witjh less text and make itmore eye catching!!

This lesson we learnt a new software called dream weaver, and the lesson before we learnt the html, we have been asked to play with both and see which it would be easier if we were to make a website, I think it would be earsier to make a website with html because all you have to do is put codes and you will have asite but if you used Dream Weaver you would have to do everything step by step and open everything and make it. I say if youwanted to take your time and if you are not in a rush you should use dream weaver but if your in a rush because it is a big project and you dont havbe time i would sugest you use html.n

Synchronous and aSynchronous

Which communication forms are synchronous?
If i was chatting to my cousin in America there will be approx 10 hours different but we would be chatting at the same time but in a different place. It will have to be real time.
Which ones are asynchronous?
If i was to send an e-mail to my friend that would be ASynchronous because it would take more that a day for her to answer because it would not be like an instant messege.
What type of information would be conveyed by each form?
If it was a very big emergncy then you would have to use Synchronous communication example: If some one fantied on the floor you would have to call the nurse asap so you would call her not send her an e-mail.
If it was somthing small like you wanted to ask your friend if she has a dog you will send her an e-mail which is ASynchronous .
What is needed in hardware and software for each?
You could use your mobile, house phone, Computer like messenger, gmail and more.

First week in IT

In it we first stared off going to qataracademy-it.wikispaces.com, mrs.linsday told us about the site and the project we will be doing, then she told us about a site called dilicious which is a page where u can bookmark all of your websits, after that we went and we made our own user accounts and posted adn website, the next lesson we made our bloggs and posted a note on what we did the first week oF IT.
